​​​​​​​Spring is a time of renewal and hope. On that theme, we invite you to join us for our Season Finale on Thursday, May 27 at 6pm. In the spirit of celebration, we will perform selections from Handel’s joyous Water Music — featuring some of our various sections and principal players.Anthony-Beer.jpg
Before the performance, you will hear about the unique story behind this music, including the celebration it was composed for. We encourage you to enjoy a favorite pre-dinner beverage at home as you enjoy 30 minutes of our online festivities!

Camp Location – Alderwood Community Church

Scholarships for Low Brass and Double reed students
Low Brass and Double Reed Instruments AUTOMATICALLY qualify for a scholarship
One Week – $100/Two Weeks – $150 ($75 per week)

                               
Sibling Discount
After the first student registers, each additional sibling will receive a $50 discount if they register for one week and $75 discount if they register for two weeks.

Summer Sounds     9 am – 3 pm
CYSO has perfected the music day camp experience.  Musicians of all ages and skill levels who have played their instrument for over three years come together to inspire and be inspired by participating in both the full symphonic orchestra and the intimate lively art of chamber music.  Instrumental sections are given professional coaching.  Each camp week has its own theme that inspires that weeks music and activities.  A free concert will be performed the Friday night at 7:30 p.m. of each camp week.  The progress that is made in five days is phenomenal.  No previous experience with CYSO is required.

Summer Overture Strings     9 am – 12 noon 
CYSO offers a half day camp for those string players who have played their STRING instrument for more than one year.  The skills needed to play in a group are taught and practiced here where playing parts, listening to others, and watching a director are experienced.  The art of creating music bigger than ones self is appreciated by students who participate in this program.     


Which group is right for you?

Register for Summer Sounds if:
You have played in an orchestra or band for at least 3 years, -OR-
You were part of CYSO last year or a previous year – OR-
Our music director has indicated summer sounds is right for you.

Summer Sounds (9 am – 3pm) 
Tuition: One Week – $450
Tuition: Two Weeks – $840

Automatic Double reed scholarships – One week $100/Two weeks $150
Automatic Brass instrument scholarships – One week $100/Two weeks $150

Register for Summer Overture Strings if:
You have played a stringed instrument for more than one year -OR-
You will be in elementary school in the fall -OR-
Our Overture Strings director or music director has indicated that Overture Strings is right for you

Summer Overture Strings (9 am – 12 noon) 
Tuition: One Week – $350
Tuition: Two Weeks – $630

Before July 1- $100 withdrawal fee

NOCCO celebrates the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, as well as the beginning of the long trek towards spring and the eventual farewell to winter: hello/goodbye.

Join us at PLU for the 2nd annual OctOboefest, a day of workshops, masterclasses, and an afternoon recital. We welcome guest artists Nancy Ambrose King (University of Michigan) and Mary Lynch (Seattle Symphony) for this event, as well as performers and teachers from around the Northwest. 9:15-10:15 – workshops (choose one):

  • Keri McCarthy (WSU), Introducing 20th Century Works (with extended
    techniques) to Undergraduates and High School Students
  • Scott Erickson (CWU), Developing a Warmup Routine

10:30-12:30 – Mary Lynch masterclass
12:30-2:00 – Lunch (available at the Anderson University Center or off campus)

  • During lunch there will be a room open for reed making, with help available!

2:00 – Recital, featuring Nancy Ambrose King and Mary Lynch. Works by Handel, Morris, Clara Schumann, Pasculli, and others.
4:00-6:00 – Nancy Ambrose King masterclass
6:00-7:00 – Oboe ensemble reading session, open to all!

REGISTRATION

We hope that you will consider making a reservation for the 2nd annual 2019 OctOboefest. Reservations are open, and being taken through an online service, OpusEvent.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration must be submitted no later than end of day Thursday, October 24th in order to attend.  No walk-ups will be allowed.
